The Vision: Quiet Confidence
The residence began as a modest mid-century bungalow; well-loved, structurally sound, but visually frozen in time. Fragmented rooms, aging finishes, and heavy detailing limited both light and livability.
Our design direction was rooted in a single intention:To Elevate The Everyday.
By reshaping the floor plan, rebalancing proportions, and infusing the space with a calm, natural palette, we transformed the home into an environment that feels refined, warm, and intentionally understated. The result is an effortless blend of modern simplicity and organic softness, a place designed to exhale.
Reimagining the Main Floor
Disjointed spaces. Uninterrupted wall lines. Narrow openings that disconnected one room from the next. Though the home offered generous square footage, the layout prevented the light from moving freely.
Clean sight-lines lead from the entry through the kitchen and into the living area, establishing a natural rhythm of movement. We introduced a layered softness; linen textures, sculptural furniture, and a palette inspired by Scandinavian calm. The living room now functions as a retreat, quietly anchoring the main floor while maintaining visual connection to the kitchen and dining zones.
The original kitchen was compact and inward-facing; tucked into a tight footprint with limited counter space and even less storage. A full wall separated it from the dining and living areas, creating a sense of confinement and preventing the natural light from travelling through the main floor.
By removing the dividing wall, we redefined the entire main floor. What was once a small, enclosed kitchen became an open, interconnected living hub, one that now supports cooking, gathering, and entertaining with ease. The new layout introduces:
A dramatically expanded footprint with room to move
An island that anchors the space and adds generous prep and seating
Custom floor-to-ceiling cabinetry that offers a major upgrade in concealed storage
Integrated appliances for a sleek, uninterrupted flow
Warm oak and soft white millwork balanced by a monolithic stone backsplash and hood
Brushed brass accents for a quiet moment of luxury
The adjacent dining area now feels intentional and connected; bathed in natural light, harmonized with the kitchen materials, and designed for effortless hosting.
Bedrooms: Elevated Comfort
The bedrooms were reimagined with a calm, restorative sensibility. Textural linens in soft tonal neutrals introduce warmth without visual weight, while the gentle sweep of sheer drapery diffuses the morning light, creating a naturally serene atmosphere. Minimalist artwork adds a curated, gallery-like finish; quiet, intentional, and beautifully understated.
Bathroom: Spa-Inspired Serenity
The bathroom underwent a complete transformation, emerging as a serene and tailored retreat. Effortless stone counters meet a warm oak vanity with integrated storage, bringing a sense of quiet luxury to the everyday. Brushed brass fixtures introduce a soft, luminous contrast, while oversized porcelain tile in a gentle mineral palette creates an immersive, spa-like backdrop. The result is a space that feels elevated yet entirely approachable; refined, warm, and intentionally designed for calm.
Stairwell Transformation: A Modern Architectural Moment
Once dark and dated, the stairwell has been reimagined into a clean, modern passageway. Fresh white walls now pull light through the space, while the original ornamental railing was replaced with a bold, angular guard in midnight black. Paired with a refined black door and minimalist lighting, the transition to the lower level becomes a striking architectural feature; simple, sculptural, and intentional.
